Where and When

Where and When can I say the Holy Face Devotion

At Home: Say the daily recitation of “Lord let Your Face shine on us, and we shall be saved,” followed by an “Our Father,” “Hail Mary,” and “Glory Be.”

You can also add the Golden Arrow Prayer and the Holy Face Chaplet. These prayers can be found in the “How Section” of this website.

At Church: Jesus requested if possible for prayers of Reparation be said in front of the Blessed Sacrament on Tuesdays.

For people who belong to the Archconfraternity of the Holy Face, a condition for membership is to attend a monthly meeting honoring the Holy Face of Jesus. Fr Lawrence Carney, a priest in Wichita, KS, has devoted his priesthood to the Holy Face Devotion and also street evangelization. He started the League of St Martin that Honors the Holy Face and has written several books on the Holy Face. His website is Martinians.org

Outside the Home: If you are outside the home and hear someone being blasphemous, you can make Reparation on the spot by saying, “Praise Be the Name of God.” Venerable Leo Dupont, aka “The Holy Man of Tours,” back in the 1800’s, if he heard someone being blasphemous, he would punch them, or box them in their ears! Later, he switched his tactics and if someone blasphemed, he told them to punch him. When the person wondered why, Leo would point out the reason. More often than not, the person felt sheepish and ashamed of what they had done.

A book of prayers called the Manual of the Archconfraternity of the Holy Face by Reverend Abbe Janvier at Tours, France published in 1887 by Angelus Press has prayers, litanies, novenas and more to the Holy Face. A new book the Manual of the Holy Face by A.M.P. published in 2018 has texts from the original book plus information about the life of Sr Marie de St Peter. These books are great references and guides to be used during monthly meetings of the Holy Face.
